GOC MEETING IN BAR HARBOR
What do we need to get ready to present at the meeting?
- Update on accomplishments over the year.
- Maybe a report on the use of Jira as a tracker
- Jenkins report
- GO challenge
- 1st week of Sept. We will work on constructing the meeting
- How are we communicating with other groups. Can we improve?
- Discussion of catabolism and biosynthesis and catabolism--- F-P links should be meaningful
- Becky will look into a couple of signaling pathways
MYCOMEMBRANE TERMS
I've added in a mycomembrane term for this SF item (stems from a GOhelp query).
mycomembrane ; GO:0036407 A hydrophobic layer in the cell envelope of Gram-positive Mycobacteria. Rich in mycolic acids (hydroxylated branched-chain fatty acids) and organized in an outer membrane-like structure. The mycomembrane lies external to the inner membrane and is covalently linked to the cell-wall.
For diagram, see: http://www.nature.com/nrmicro/journal/v5/n11/fig_tab/nrmicro1773_F1.html
Can the 'extrinsic/intrinsic/integral' terminology still be applied to this 'membrane-like' structure (even though it doesn't have membrane parentage?):
- extrinsic to external side of mycomembrane ; GO:NEW
- intrinsic to mycomembrane ; GO:NEW
- integral to mycomembrane ; GO:NEW
Right now it is an external encapsulating structure but is not a membrane. Do we want to use the same nomenclature for integral etc. Becky will ask the prokaryotic experts.
