  • Found on every continent except Australia and Antarctica and mostly known as the Black-necked Grebe. The Eared Grebe is the subspecies found in the Americas.

  • 'About 10-20% of the population uses Gunnison Island in the Great Basin's Great Salt Lake as a nesting ground.'
  1. [Double-creasted Cormorant] double-crested cormorants- 2
  2. [Great Blue Heron] Great Blue Herons- 2
  3. [Northern Harrier ] Northern Harriers- 3 males; one taking a jackrabbit
  4. [Gadwall] Gadwall- 5
  5. [Mallard ] Mallards- 4
  6. [Lessor Scaup] Lesser Scaup- 4
  7. [American Avocet] American Avocets- 750
  • Avocets feed by sweeping their bills from side to side in through the water.
