Revision as of 11:15, 12 August 2015

Morning Session

  • 9:00 - 9:30 Welcoming remarks & overview of today's agenda.
  • 9:30 - 11:00 Workshop #1: Annotation (Rama, Pascale, David, Chris, Rachael, Ruth)
- Annotating new genomes (?) and new biology - (microRNA, Rachael)
- Focus annotation (Cardiovascular and Telomeres - Ruth, mitophagy?, synapse - ?)
- Noctua - Chris (better if before AE discussion?)
- Annotating contextual information - Rachael on AE

  • 11:00 - 11:20 Coffee break

With the recent proliferation of genomic data sets, opportunities for computational scientists to make fundamental contributions to medical research have grown phenomenally. Dr Slonim's group is focused on developing novel computational methods to advance medical research in two primary areas: determining key regulatory processes governing normal human fetal development, and predicting or interpreting interactions between sets of proteins in a context-dependent fashion.

Lunch Break

  • 11:50 am - 12:40 pm

Afternoon Session

Dr. Ideker is Professor of Medicine at UCSD. He is the Director of the San Diego Center for Systems Biology and the Director of the National Resource for Network Biology. He is a pioneer in using genome-scale measurements to construct network models of cellular processes and disease.

  • 1:10 - 2:40 Workshop #2: Enrichment Analysis using the GO.
- Statistical options and parameters ( Judy, )
- Defining data sets for GO enrichment analysis (Paul)
- GO tools, website, training, outreach, Helpdesk, and TermGenie (Heiko, Moni, Seth)
  • 2:40 - 3:00 Coffee Break
  • 3:00 - 3:40 Open discussion: Q&A and concluding remarks.
