The Term Associations page displays the gene products that have been annotated to that GO term and its child GO terms. This page is accesible from the "View Associations" hyperlink in the Term Search Results or from the "Term Associations" hyperlink on a GO Term page. The data can be downloaded in RDF-XML format.

Filtering the gene products

The top of the page provides options to filter the gene products annotated to this page. Gene products can be filtered by species, data source, and evidence code. In addition, there is an option to display only gene products that have been annotated directly to the GO term or all gene products that have been annotated to the GO term and its child GO terms.

Annotations

Since the Term Associations page can display all gene products annotated to a GO term and its child GO terms, the gene products displayed are organized by GO term. The GO term of interest is listed as the heading of the section and all gene products that have been annotated to that GO term are listed below.

Each gene product will have the following information associated with the annotations:

  • Gene name or symbol
  • Type of feature that is annotated
  • Species encoding the gene product
  • Type of evidence available for the annotation in the form of the evidence code.
  • Reference or citation
  • The data source that made the annotation

In addition, a gene product may have the following information associated with the annotation:

  • Qualifier. The qualifier will be displayed before the gene name.
  • Protein sequence for the gene product. A BLAST option is available if this sequence is avaialble.
  • Supporting evidence for the evidence code. This information is prefaced by "with" or "from".
  • The data source that submitted the annotation to the GO Consortium. If this is different than the data source that made the annotation, it will state that the data were submitted "via" another data source.

Further detail about the information associated with an annotation can be viewed in the Annotation File format documentation

A checkbox is available to select a gene product, multiple gene products, or all gene products. The Gene Details page can be viewed for gene products that are selected or the protein sequences can be submited to GOst for the gene products that are selected.

Since a GO term can have multiple child terms and many gene products can be annotated to each GO term, the pages are
