Agenda

1. Annotation Extension Field documentation (Rachael)

http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Annotation_Extension

Susan pointed out that the example for the rejected GO term: negative regulation of tRNA transcription from RNA polymerase III promoter is now a GO term. Therefore should discuss with editors whether it should stay or we need to come up with a new example. ACTION: Rachael will talk to editors.

Petra found some of the term names unclear. Rachael mentioned that the annotation_extension_relations.obo file was far from complete with regard to definitions and domains/ranges, but pointed out the documentation in progress on wiki for individual relations (http://wiki.geneontology.org/index.php/Annotation_usage_examples_for_each_annotation_extension_relation)

Suzi would like this presented at the GO Consortium meeting - but Rachael needs to speak with Val, Midori, Chris about improving the definitions, examples, etc. Kimberley offered to send some examples for the relations she had been using. Examples can also be sent by interested people to Rachael who will incorporate them into this documentation.

Suzi suggested adding a category for each relation page for easy searching.

Action:Rama to put on website after Rachael has sent edits

2. Cell fraction terms

The proposal is to now map (in)soluble fraction terms to 'cellular_component' ND, if no other cellular component annotation is present for that gene product.

Annotations to SOLUBLE FRACTION. Remove if any other CC annotation. Remaining annotations map to GO:cellular_component

Annotations to INSOLUBLE FRACTION. Remove if any other CC annotation. Remaining annotations map to GO:cellular_component

All agreed with the proposal to obsolete the current cell fraction terms and the suggested alternative terms to use instead. ACTION:Rachael will ask editors to obsolete the terms and include the appropriate consider tags for the alternative terms.
