Potential strategies:

  1. Allow the creation of 'fake' models (with the appropriate metadata) that sum up the immediately distal pathway fragments for a gene?
  2. Push ahead with Noctua improvements to make working in a gene-centric fashion over multiple models easier, and with UI improvements to allow on-the-fly merging?
  3. Status quo?
