09/20/2007 17:25:39 PM from Jen Deegan to All Attendees:
hi
09/20/2007 17:28:06 PM from Midori Harris to All Attendees:
hi
09/20/2007 17:28:17 PM from Midori Harris to All Attendees:
I wondered whether anyone else would turn up.
09/20/2007 17:28:23 PM from Jen Deegan to All Attendees:
:-)
09/20/2007 17:28:56 PM from Jen Deegan to All Attendees:
would you fancy a demo of the oboedit source code in eclipse while we wait?
09/20/2007 17:30:02 PM from Midori Harris to All Attendees:
John's just sent me a message via skype ... I think he's on his way.
09/20/2007 17:30:09 PM from Jen Deegan to All Attendees:
oh righty
09/20/2007 17:30:50 PM from melissaH to All Attendees:
Hi gals, how are you?
09/20/2007 17:31:16 PM from Midori Harris to All Attendees:
not bad ... a bit frazzled, what with meeting coming right up
09/20/2007 17:31:19 PM from Jen Deegan to All Attendees:
good thanks, you?
09/20/2007 17:31:54 PM from melissaH to All Attendees:
pretty well here....head is above water. are you all as understaffed as we seem to be?
09/20/2007 17:32:05 PM from Jen Deegan to All Attendees:
yep :-)
09/20/2007 17:32:14 PM from Midori Harris to All Attendees:
no kidding
09/20/2007 17:32:23 PM from Midori Harris to All Attendees:
Jane's on leave, you know.
09/20/2007 17:32:25 PM from Jen Deegan to All Attendees:
have you lost people too?
09/20/2007 17:32:48 PM from melissaH to All Attendees:
yes, Erik in January and have yet to replace. and another curator out on maternity leave too.
09/20/2007 17:33:01 PM from Jen Deegan to All Attendees:
how many people do you have?
09/20/2007 17:33:15 PM from melissaH to All Attendees:
9 curators
09/20/2007 17:33:25 PM from Jen Deegan to All Attendees:
that's good then
09/20/2007 17:33:42 PM from John Day-Richter to All Attendees:
Hey, it vaguely worked.
09/20/2007 17:33:44 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
hi John
09/20/2007 17:33:50 PM from melissaH to All Attendees:
hey
09/20/2007 17:33:54 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Hello, super-friends.
09/20/2007 17:33:57 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
I asked about the mac problem with chat and demo
09/20/2007 17:34:03 PM from melissaH to All Attendees:
(I want to be aqua man)
09/20/2007 17:34:07 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Let me guess:
09/20/2007 17:34:19 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
"Webex continues to offer quality solutions to all users"
09/20/2007 17:34:23 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
apparently the floating menu bar isn't supported in mac
09/20/2007 17:34:25 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
yes that's about it
09/20/2007 17:34:34 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
I wrote back to ask when it would be supported
09/20/2007 17:34:38 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
no answer yet
09/20/2007 17:34:48 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
"Share and enjoy!"
09/20/2007 17:34:48 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
they do pretty well to be fair
09/20/2007 17:34:56 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
I guess that would explain why I don't even know what this floating menu bar is ...
09/20/2007 17:35:03 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
that would indeed
09/20/2007 17:35:12 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
I can probably get you a picture.
09/20/2007 17:35:29 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
If we're going to do a demo, I'll switch to my Windows emulator.
09/20/2007 17:35:30 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
oh I have to wait until john is demo ing
09/20/2007 17:35:43 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
is that the vmware thing
09/20/2007 17:35:44 PM from Erika to All Participants:
Helllo!
09/20/2007 17:35:46 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
hi!
09/20/2007 17:35:50 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Hi, Erika.
09/20/2007 17:35:58 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
no hurry
09/20/2007 17:35:59 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Jen - I use Parallels now. It's awesome.
09/20/2007 17:36:10 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
oh really?
09/20/2007 17:36:19 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
sounds interesting
09/20/2007 17:37:00 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Way better than VMWare. Better performance, and it has a mode called "coherance mode", where it does some trickery to make you windows applications look like they're really on your mac, not running in an emulator.
09/20/2007 17:37:06 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
(even though they are)
09/20/2007 17:37:14 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
ooooo
09/20/2007 17:37:26 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
so this is a thing to let you have windows on a mac then?
09/20/2007 17:37:40 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Yes.
09/20/2007 17:37:44 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
ah right
09/20/2007 17:37:48 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
not so good for me then
09/20/2007 17:38:16 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
what's the plan for today?
09/20/2007 17:38:43 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
I thought today was office hours, because last week was a meeting, and I assumed everyone was rushing to complete their presentations for the consortium meeting.
09/20/2007 17:38:55 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
oh I see
09/20/2007 17:39:01 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
good call
09/20/2007 17:39:03 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
I've fixed all the bugs that I could reproduce from our office hours session on Monday, by the way.
09/20/2007 17:39:09 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
great!
09/20/2007 17:39:12 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
I also thought office hours, and have put in some more bug reports.
09/20/2007 17:39:32 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
I can't get any of your Windows XP bugs to happen though, Jen. My laptop is a perfect little gentleman.
09/20/2007 17:39:46 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
oh
09/20/2007 17:39:54 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
so those ones aren't fixed?
09/20/2007 17:40:04 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Can't fix it if I can't make it happen.
09/20/2007 17:40:10 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
true
09/20/2007 17:40:18 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
any thoughts?
09/20/2007 17:40:29 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
The most show-stopping of my bugs is that I can't save.
09/20/2007 17:40:37 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
reinstall my laptop from scratch?
09/20/2007 17:40:38 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
!
09/20/2007 17:41:13 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Jen - I'd say wipe out all your oboedit settings, make sure they're really dead, and reinstall. Also apply any pending Java updates, if you've been letting them slide.
09/20/2007 17:41:18 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Midori - say more about that.
09/20/2007 17:41:43 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
(To everyone else - since this is office hours, it's going to be all bug talk. If you aren't interested in that, it's fine to go home)
09/20/2007 17:41:45 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
how do I make sure they're really dead? My java's bang up to date and I did delete the config folder
09/20/2007 17:41:48 PM from melissaH to All Attendees:
Jen, I've had to do this too (I'm windows) othewise I just get a blue screen
09/20/2007 17:41:49 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
Just checking now to see if I have the same problem at home.
09/20/2007 17:42:23 PM from melissaH to All Attendees:
I had to delete all of .oboeditbeta in its entirety
09/20/2007 17:42:34 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
melissa does the new search work for you?
09/20/2007 17:42:48 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
Initial report is SF 1796292
09/20/2007 17:42:51 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
I deleted all of .oboeditbeta too
09/20/2007 17:43:05 PM from melissaH to All Attendees:
hmmm, have to admit haven't tested much. I've had such trouble just getting it to go. I'll try it now
09/20/2007 17:43:13 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
ta
09/20/2007 17:43:28 PM from Erika to All Participants:
MMMH!To be honest I have not been using obo 2. so many time to have bugs but I would like
09/20/2007 17:43:29 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
I think I do have the problem here. The symptom is that the save dailog doesn't appear ...
09/20/2007 17:43:36 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
erika have you tried on your xp machine?
09/20/2007 17:43:40 PM from Erika to All Participants:
but it is useful for me to follow the discussion
09/20/2007 17:44:00 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
I just missed the last minute from a webex crash.
09/20/2007 17:44:04 PM from melissaH to All Attendees:
oh yes, I can't find any results
09/20/2007 17:44:22 PM from melissaH to All Attendees:
and then it freezes
09/20/2007 17:44:25 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
erika, it wouldbe useful if you could load the go file and test the new search facility on your xp machine
09/20/2007 17:44:37 PM from Erika to All Participants:
OK Jen!
09/20/2007 17:44:38 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
shall I paste in the conversation for john?
09/20/2007 17:44:47 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Yes, please.
09/20/2007 17:44:59 PM from melissaH to All Participants:
sorry forgot
09/20/2007 17:45:04 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Jen - you should search your hard drive for any file containing .oboedit, just to make sure there aren't multiple copies.
09/20/2007 17:45:05 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
I'll put it in skype
09/20/2007 17:45:08 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
... er, dialog. Typed correctly or incorrectly, it hasn't put in an appearance. Three minutes and counting since I chose "Save As" from the file menu ...
09/20/2007 17:45:20 PM from Erika to All Participants:
Jen - usually I work on a Linux but for attend the webex chat I need to use windows
09/20/2007 17:45:51 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
could you possibly test on windows just to see?
09/20/2007 17:46:01 PM from Erika to All Participants:
yes, sure
09/20/2007 17:46:01 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
I have a problem on my windows machine
09/20/2007 17:46:30 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Jen - I DID test on windows. That's what I mean about my laptop being a perfect gentleman. No problems at all.
09/20/2007 17:46:42 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
no it's okay I was talking to erika
09/20/2007 17:46:47 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Ah, I see.
09/20/2007 17:46:51 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
I was wondering if she had the same problem as me
09/20/2007 17:46:55 PM from melissaH to All Participants:
John- when hit search it freezes
09/20/2007 17:47:02 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
same as me
09/20/2007 17:47:12 PM from Erika to All Participants:
JEn- could you tell me your bug? so I will see if I can reproduce it on my laptopo?
09/20/2007 17:47:18 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Same problem as Jen. Give me an example search - maybe it has to do with the kind of search you're doing.
09/20/2007 17:47:21 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
I think I could search on the Mac ...
09/20/2007 17:47:24 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
search in the new search thing on anything at all
09/20/2007 17:47:28 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
it should freeze solid
09/20/2007 17:47:47 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
it's the search that does not say 'legacy'
09/20/2007 17:47:58 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
must kill current oboedit process to double-check -- it's still stalled on failing to produce the save dialog.
09/20/2007 17:48:05 PM from melissaH to All Participants:
I'm searching the cell ontology for 'cell'
09/20/2007 17:48:17 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
I find that the cell ontology works much better than go
09/20/2007 17:48:19 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
I just searched on my windows laptop, using the new control, in beta13, on the search "have a Name that contains the value cell"
09/20/2007 17:48:20 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
because it is smaller
09/20/2007 17:48:28 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
It worked just fine.
09/20/2007 17:48:34 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
have you tried GO?
09/20/2007 17:48:42 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
This IS go.
09/20/2007 17:48:44 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
ah!
09/20/2007 17:48:45 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
good
09/20/2007 17:48:51 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
But... it's an older version of gene_ontology_edit.
09/20/2007 17:48:59 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
I wonder how erika gets on
09/20/2007 17:49:01 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Let me try downloading the up-to-the-second newest version.
09/20/2007 17:49:13 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
erika how are you getting on?
09/20/2007 17:49:30 PM from Erika to All Participants:
I have load cell ontology
09/20/2007 17:49:38 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
can you load go instead?
09/20/2007 17:49:42 PM from Erika to All Participants:
but now I decided to use GO
09/20/2007 17:49:45 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
ah!
09/20/2007 17:50:11 PM from Erika to All Participants:
Sorry, my machine is slow :-(
09/20/2007 17:50:19 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
that's good for this
09/20/2007 17:50:23 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Jen - what's your current memory setting?
09/20/2007 17:50:51 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
it chooses 1200M on startup but says 512M in config as I recall. I'll check
09/20/2007 17:51:13 PM from melissaH to All Participants:
mine says 768 in the config manager
09/20/2007 17:51:19 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
searching is worknig with latest GO on mac
09/20/2007 17:51:25 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
yes that's right
09/20/2007 17:51:36 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
shall I change it in the config manager?
09/20/2007 17:51:39 PM from Erika to All Participants:
something like 612
09/20/2007 17:52:31 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
It works just fine for me, even with the newest GO!
09/20/2007 17:52:37 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Do you have the reasoner on, Jen?
09/20/2007 17:52:49 PM from melissaH to All Participants:
I loaded the zfin anatomy and search name or synonym for 'fin and it froze again.
09/20/2007 17:52:59 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
I just spotted a small search bug!
09/20/2007 17:53:00 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
nope
09/20/2007 17:53:04 PM from melissaH to All Participants:
(can't even quit)
09/20/2007 17:53:15 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
I changed it to 1200M and it still hung
09/20/2007 17:53:19 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
me neither
09/20/2007 17:53:28 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Remember, memory settings changes don't take effect until you restart.
09/20/2007 17:53:34 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
oh
09/20/2007 17:53:37 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
I'll try that
09/20/2007 17:53:39 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Wait.
09/20/2007 17:53:41 PM from melissaH to All Participants:
reasoner has been off
09/20/2007 17:53:44 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
I have an idea.
09/20/2007 17:53:59 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Jen & Mel, zip up your .oboeditbeta directories right now and send them to me (via skype is fine)
09/20/2007 17:54:09 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
the memory setting wasn't retained
09/20/2007 17:54:14 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
it is back to 512M
09/20/2007 17:54:48 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Jen - something else to try:
09/20/2007 17:54:55 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
yes?
09/20/2007 17:55:06 PM from melissaH to All Participants:
ok
09/20/2007 17:55:07 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Go to your Applications/OBO-Edit directory, and open the file oboedit.vmoptions with a text editor.
09/20/2007 17:55:22 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
(Shut down OBO-Edit first!)
09/20/2007 17:55:50 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
yes?
09/20/2007 17:56:02 PM from Erika to All Participants:
I have searched for plasticity in the GO and now I cannot do anything else.OOE is blocked!
09/20/2007 17:56:03 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
mmm rings a bell
09/20/2007 17:56:11 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
same as me erika
09/20/2007 17:56:15 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
What does the file say?
09/20/2007 17:56:24 PM from Erika to All Participants:
oh :-(
09/20/2007 17:56:24 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
-Xmx512M
09/20/2007 17:56:32 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
I can put it to 1200 and try again?
09/20/2007 17:56:51 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Yes, but don't set it higher than your actual memory.
09/20/2007 17:56:54 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
That would be very bad.
09/20/2007 17:56:57 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
:-)
09/20/2007 17:57:09 PM from Erika to All Participants:
I have 1G RAM.
09/20/2007 17:57:19 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
putting newly discovered search bug in SourceForge
09/20/2007 17:57:25 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
config now shows 1200
09/20/2007 17:57:34 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Now try it, Jen.
09/20/2007 17:57:40 PM from Erika to All Participants:
John - could you suggest me a range for OE memory?
09/20/2007 17:57:48 PM from Erika to All Participants:
I have 1 G RAM
09/20/2007 17:57:58 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
About 80% of your total memory. Try 768
09/20/2007 17:58:02 PM from Erika to All Participants:
thanks
09/20/2007 17:58:07 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
oh dear. It still hangs with 1200M
09/20/2007 17:58:14 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
sorry
09/20/2007 17:58:28 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
What could be different about your machine and mine...?
09/20/2007 17:58:42 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Let me try something else...
09/20/2007 17:58:47 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
is your machine and actual PC or is it your emulator?
09/20/2007 17:58:48 PM from melissaH to All Participants:
we have the female touch :-)
09/20/2007 17:58:51 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
:-)
09/20/2007 17:59:11 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
It's a Windows XP laptop.
09/20/2007 17:59:19 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
same as me
09/20/2007 17:59:28 PM from melissaH to All Participants:
mine is a windows xp desktop
09/20/2007 17:59:33 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
but there are three showing the bug right?
09/20/2007 17:59:57 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Yes.
09/20/2007 18:00:11 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
I'll try the eclipse version on y machine
09/20/2007 18:00:14 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Jen - if you press ctrl+alt+del and look at the task manager, how many oboedit.exe's do you see in there?
09/20/2007 18:00:47 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
just one
09/20/2007 18:01:20 PM from melissaH to All Participants:
me too, and I've been quitting from there
09/20/2007 18:01:40 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
me too
09/20/2007 18:02:48 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
It won't shut down properly?
09/20/2007 18:02:52 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
eeep!
09/20/2007 18:03:00 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
it works from eclipse
09/20/2007 18:03:09 PM from melissaH to All Participants:
no
09/20/2007 18:03:38 PM from melissaH to All Participants:
I get the shut down window (yes/no) but I can't see anything in the box to choose yes.
09/20/2007 18:04:16 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
It works from eclipse??!!
09/20/2007 18:04:30 PM from Erika to All Participants:
Melissa I have your same problem
09/20/2007 18:04:40 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Jen, please confirm!
09/20/2007 18:04:52 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
hi yes
09/20/2007 18:04:56 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Okay, new plan:
09/20/2007 18:04:57 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
yes it works from eclipse
09/20/2007 18:05:10 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Jen - zip up your OBO-Edit installation directory (where the actual exe files are)
09/20/2007 18:05:16 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
ok
09/20/2007 18:05:19 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
You'll need to kill any existing OBO-Edit processes to do this.
09/20/2007 18:05:32 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
ok
09/20/2007 18:05:48 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Then delete your .oboeditbeta directory again (this will also require you to kill OBO-Edit processes)
09/20/2007 18:05:54 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
ok
09/20/2007 18:05:57 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
And then reinstall from a clean installer.
09/20/2007 18:06:00 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
ok
09/20/2007 18:06:01 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
now?
09/20/2007 18:06:04 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Yes.
09/20/2007 18:06:10 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
I'm on it
09/20/2007 18:06:22 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
If this works, I want the zipped-up OBO-Edit application folder you made, so I can do some forensics.
09/20/2007 18:06:30 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
ok
09/20/2007 18:06:35 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
app zipped
09/20/2007 18:06:56 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
THAT'S the different between us: this laptop had never had a recent OBO-Edit 2 beta on it.
09/20/2007 18:07:28 PM from Erika to All Participants:
John - I saw I have three oboedit.exe active
09/20/2007 18:07:38 PM from Erika to All Participants:
I killed two of them
09/20/2007 18:08:38 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
hi
09/20/2007 18:08:44 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
each time I delete one of these thing
09/20/2007 18:08:51 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
it says a process is still using them
09/20/2007 18:08:56 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
but it deletes them anyway
09/20/2007 18:09:17 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
oh, no it doesn't
09/20/2007 18:09:51 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
there's a zombie process using 143k of ram
09/20/2007 18:10:06 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Make sure that Eclipse isn't running anything.
09/20/2007 18:10:10 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
That was my problem too.
09/20/2007 18:10:22 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
eclipse is definately gone
09/20/2007 18:10:25 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
I shut it
09/20/2007 18:10:42 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Jen - restart if you have to, then, or try killing all java's under the Process tab of the task manager.
09/20/2007 18:10:42 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
weird. still can't delete beta folder
09/20/2007 18:10:53 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Erika - kill all your oboedit.exes.
09/20/2007 18:10:59 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
There should not be more than one.
09/20/2007 18:11:32 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
I'll restart. Back in a bit
09/20/2007 18:11:59 PM from Erika to All Participants:
I kill all of them
09/20/2007 18:12:10 PM from Erika to All Participants:
and restart OE
09/20/2007 18:12:20 PM from Erika to All Participants:
I can load GO
09/20/2007 18:12:25 PM from Erika to All Participants:
I turn off reasoner
09/20/2007 18:12:32 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Excellent. Now we need to wait for Jen to get back to find out if this full deletion worked.
09/20/2007 18:12:52 PM from Erika to All Participants:
ok! finger crossed!
09/20/2007 18:14:57 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
While we're waiting, has anyone else tried to save a file in beta13?
09/20/2007 18:15:33 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Just hangs when you click "Save As"?
09/20/2007 18:15:38 PM from Erika to All Participants:
NO, I haven't
09/20/2007 18:15:57 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
Yep. Nothing else happens, until I get tired of waiting and kill obo-edit
09/20/2007 18:16:56 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
... and i do have to kill it; the quit option isn't available 'cos the whole damn app is hanging.
09/20/2007 18:18:26 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
The good news is that it happens to me too. I think the problem is that the verification manager is running a ton of tests, but the progress bar isn't appearing to tell you about it.
09/20/2007 18:19:32 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
I thought that happened later, after the dialog box appeared, but ...
09/20/2007 18:20:07 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Jen, are you back?
09/20/2007 18:20:09 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
let me see if it's any better if I turn off some checks on save.
09/20/2007 18:20:35 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
yes
09/20/2007 18:20:40 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
I have sent you the fiels
09/20/2007 18:20:42 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
files
09/20/2007 18:20:46 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
now installing
09/20/2007 18:20:49 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Wait -
09/20/2007 18:20:58 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
yes?
09/20/2007 18:21:09 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
I want to make sure it's clear that you need to completely delete the Program Files/OBO-Edit directory before you install.
09/20/2007 18:21:18 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
yes I did that
09/20/2007 18:21:26 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Okay, great. Proceed, then.
09/20/2007 18:21:41 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
ok
09/20/2007 18:22:01 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
it set the memory correctly this time
09/20/2007 18:22:05 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
!
09/20/2007 18:22:48 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
The suspense is killing me!
09/20/2007 18:23:11 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
hung
09/20/2007 18:23:12 PM from Erika to All Participants:
I am doing the same thing Jen is doing
09/20/2007 18:23:18 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
sorry
09/20/2007 18:23:23 PM from Erika to All Participants:
finger crossed!
09/20/2007 18:23:26 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Sigh.
09/20/2007 18:23:30 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
quite
09/20/2007 18:23:40 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
good that it works from eclipse though :-)
09/20/2007 18:24:12 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
The ONLY reason that it would work from Eclipse and not from the installation directory is that there's something wrong with the installation directory.
09/20/2007 18:24:16 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
In other news, with only the definition check set to run on save, the save dialog is nowhere to be seen, and o-e is stalled.
09/20/2007 18:24:30 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Do you have special permissions set up on your Program Files directory, Jen?
09/20/2007 18:24:38 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
no
09/20/2007 18:24:44 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
I don't know how to do that
09/20/2007 18:24:57 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
(there's something up with the verification system anyway, tho - I put in two bug reports about it)
09/20/2007 18:25:04 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Midori - don't worry too much about that. I can reproduce it, so I'll find it.
09/20/2007 18:25:10 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
ok
09/20/2007 18:25:26 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
have you tried to reproduce the verification bugs?
09/20/2007 18:25:38 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Well, the double-reporting isn't really a bug, exactly.
09/20/2007 18:25:51 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
you know when an application crashes and it says 'send error report' can we send it to you somehow?
09/20/2007 18:26:00 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Every disjoint violation really is 2 disjoint violations. So that's more a display problem.
09/20/2007 18:26:13 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Jen - that's a microsoft-specific dump, so it wouldn't help me.
09/20/2007 18:26:14 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
Well, it's still damned odd (except that it's an even number).
09/20/2007 18:26:32 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
ok
09/20/2007 18:26:46 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Let me try to use the files Jen sent to reproduce this OBO-Edit bug on windows one more time...
09/20/2007 18:26:46 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
it couldn't be just the the source in eclipse is newer and better could it?
09/20/2007 18:27:05 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants:
I get it, but I think it would make more sense to reprot the number of terms that wiolate disjointness (and that's what 1.x does).
09/20/2007 18:27:08 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Jen - probably not. I don't have the problem when I install from the packaged installers, either.
09/20/2007 18:27:16 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
ok
09/20/2007 18:27:32 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
I might pop off soon
09/20/2007 18:27:49 PM from Erika to All Participants:
John - I have uninstall all OE version on my PC
09/20/2007 18:27:54 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
go and have dinner, as it were
09/20/2007 18:27:56 PM from Erika to All Participants:
delete all folders
09/20/2007 18:28:08 PM from Erika to All Participants:
and all .oboedit and .oboedit folders
09/20/2007 18:28:25 PM from Erika to All Participants:
re install it
09/20/2007 18:28:36 PM from Erika to All Participants:
if I search
09/20/2007 18:29:14 PM from Erika to All Participants:
it seems working because I saw a window with Querying written in it
09/20/2007 18:29:14 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Let's wrap this up. I'll use the data I collected from Mel and Jen to try to reproduce the problem.
09/20/2007 18:29:21 PM from Jen Deegan to All Participants:
good luck
09/20/2007 18:29:23 PM from Erika to All Participants:
ok
09/20/2007 18:29:24 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Erika - that's a good sign!
09/20/2007 18:29:30 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants:
Does it give you results?
09/20/2007 18:29:38 PM from Erika to All Participants:
but I do not have any search result
09/20/2007 18:29:43 PM from Erika to All Participants:
no
