Furture Users Meetings

As GO has expanded as a project, we feel the traditional 'users meetings' have become too general, to the point that they're no longer meeting the needs of most users. The problem we have is that the users we want to target don't yet know of the benefits of using GO, and so they would never turn up to a users meeting. Or otherwise they are using it as part of some third party tool, and would be unlikely to come to a specific GO meeting with their query.

So instead of a single annual users meeting, we feel our resources would be much better used in targeting specific, largely biological, user groups at conferences and meetings. Different consortium members would attend different conferences according to their biological interest, and run workshops and give talks specifically aimed at explaining GO for their audience. So for example, at a meeting where many researchers used microarray technology, the workshop/talk would be geared around how GO can be used to analyze microarray data.

For the larger meetings, such as PAG, where several consortium members routinely attend, we would like to propose using a GO stand, where people could come with all queries about GO.
