XPs defining molecular functions in terms of cellular components; example:

[Term]
id: GO:0008017 ! microtubule binding
intersection_of: GO:0005488 ! binding
intersection_of: OBO_REL:results_in_binding_of GO:0005874 ! microtubule

[Term]
id: GO:0003777 ! microtubule motor activity
intersection_of: GO:0003774 ! motor activity
intersection_of: OBO_REL:unfolds_in GO:0005874 ! microtubule

The moment these are mostly binding terms. See also XP:biological_process_xp_cellular_component

Use Cases

A gp is annotated to microtubule binding but is not otherwise associated with the microtubule. The following rule seems reasonable

  • G has_function F, F results_in_binding_of C → G colocalizes_with C

Methods

An initial parse was made using Obol. The results were then manually vetted by cjm, and new xp defs manually added
