Personnel
GO managers: Rama Balakrishnan and Emily Dimmer, who support the work carried out by the GO Consortium annotation groups.
Outreach
- GOA and MGI continue to support the manual annotation activities carried out by Donna Slonim's group at Tufts University and managed by Heather Wick. The groups focus has been manually annotating human proteins involved in fetal developmental processes.
- Associations are added into the Protein2GO curation tool maintained by the UniProt group
- As of May 2011, 517 manual annotations to 125 proteins has been released.
- GOA continues to support the manual annotation activities carried out by Sushil Tripathi, in Martin Kuiper's group at the Systems Biology Department at NTNI, Tronheim, Norway. The group has a specific interest in annotating genes involved in the gastrin
- Annotations recently released and assigned the source 'NTNU_SB'
- Protein Ontology Consortium supports community submissions for its terms and allows users to add GO annotation into the tool RACE-PRO (http://pir.georgetown.edu/cgi-bin/pro/race_pro)
- annotation is available from the PRO ftp site (ftp://ftp.pir.georgetown.edu/databases/ontology/pro_obo/) in a protein annotation file (where some fields shared with a GAF)
- as well as being displayed in the PRO browser on the PRO website (http://proconsortium.org/)
- The group is currently developing an interface to handle requests for protein complexes.
- Gramene
- Working with the woodland strawberry International Genome Consortia to supply predicted genes with terms from a range of established automated and reviewed computational analysis (RCA) annotation methods
- Upcoming release of an enriched GO annotation set for grape and Brachypodium
Development of Annotation Guidelines
- Working with the coordinators of annotation discussion working groups, set up in preparation for the June 2010 GO annotation Camp in Geneva, to finalize the annotation guidelines agreed during this meeting. This work has additionally involved further discussions during the fortnightly annotation calls.
- Evidence Code Documentation
Documentation for the evidence codes created by PAINT curators (IBA, IBD, IKR, IRD codes) is now available in the Evidence Code web page on the GO Consortium website (and the codes will be accepted by Mike Cherry’s filtering script)
