Fall 2022 Consortium Meeting

• Regularly scheduled Noctua outage:
  • Thursday, July 14th and 28th

GO Release Pipeline

• June release is out as of June 15th
• July release is finished?

Ontology

Membrane CC Terms

• Proposal to obsolete and reorganize CC ontology for membrane annotations
  • Capturing membrane protein topology will no longer be under the purview of GO annotation
  • Some ontology work left to do, but curators are still encouraged to look at the spreadsheet to make sure they understand what will happen to the annotations
    • Review 'integral to membrane protein annotations'
    • SOP for examining topology and GO CC annotations in UniProtKB

Cell cortex definition and annotations

• https://github.com/geneontology/go-ontology/issues/23429
• We'll come up with a list of CC terms to review as there are slightly overlapping concepts in the ontology
  • cytoplasmic side of plasma membrane vs cell periphery vs cell cortex
• Will devote future annotation calls (~September) to discuss this
• Curators can, over the summer, collect examples and supporting evidence sentences used for annotation

Annotation error reports and annotation review

• Please remember to keep checking the reports generated by the pipeline and address any errors
• Also check annotation review tickets assigned to you/your group in go-annotation repo on github
• Questions about either - please bring to the meeting

GO-CAM and Noctua

• Software updates
  • Model copy functionality
    • Currently on noctua-dev; has been tested by David, Pascale, Paul, Kimberly, Swiss-Prot curators
  • Plan to put into production soon (if not today, then within the next day or two)
