• This relation links an activity to a biological process where the mechanism by which the activity affects the process is not known, but the directionality of the overall effect is positive.
• The 'causally upstream of or within, positive effect' relation links a Molecular Function to a Biological Process when:
  • the mechanism that relates the activity to the process is not understood
  • the activity has a positive effect on the process

  • Relationships between a molecular function and a biological process when a positive effect has been demonstrated but the mechanism is not known.
• What not to capture
  • Relationships where the mechanism is known. These should be represented by causally upstream of, positive effect.
