Annotation Extension Usage Examples

Specifying the targets of a localization or transport process

For identifying gene products, complexes or substances whose location is established or maintained by a localization or transport process.

1. Wnt signaling regulates acetylcholine receptor translocation and synaptic plasticity in the adult nervous system. Annotations were made to components of the Wnt signaling pathway that regulate synaptic plasticity by controlling the localization of an acetylcholine receptor, ACR-16 (UniProtKB:P48180), to the neuromuscular junction using GO:1900383 regulation of synaptic plasticity by receptor localization to synapse (PMID:22464329)

DB (Col 2) Object (Col 3) GO ID (Col 5) Reference (Col 6) Extension (Col 16)
WBGene00003006 lin-17 GO:1900383 PMID:22464329 localizes(UniProtKB:P48180)

2. PACS1 (UniProtKB:Q6VY07) targets PKD2 (UniProtKB:Q13563) to the plasma membrane (GO:0072661 protein targeting to plasma membrane) (PMID:15692563)

The annotation for PACS1 would be:

DB (Col 2) Object (Col 3) GO ID (Col 5) Reference (Col 6) Extension (Col 16)
Q6VY07 PACS1 GO:0072661 PMID:15692563 localizes(UniProtKB:Q13563)

If it is known whether the protein being annotated in Col 2 is directly or indirectly localizing the entity in the annotation_extension column, then there are two subtypes of 'localizes' that may be used; directly_localizes and indirectly_localizes.
