We discussed whether the current meeting schedule is good.  Current attendees thought it was, but of course the people who couldn't attend weren't there to object.

There was also a bit of discussion on Webex & audio options; decided not to change for now. You can use Skype to call the toll-free conf line if you want to use a headset.

Bug and Feature Tracker Updates

Discussion items

  • Showstopper bugs in 2.1b7?
    • Harold reports problem committing Synonym edits; Nomi is working on this (see below).
    • User dictionary problem (not sure this is a showstopper, but I plan to look into it soon). (Update: for most people, saving words to the standard dictionary works, but the user dictionary doesn't. For Becky, the standard dictionary doesn't work either.)
    • Other?

Here's what I've determined so far about Harold's problem with committing edits. OBO-Edit 2.1-b7 *is* saving the edits; however, it's doing two things (for Harold) that make it look like it's not:

  • After he commits the edit in the text editor and then tries to select another term in the OTE, Harold gets an erroneous popup claiming that there are uncommitted edits, which there are not.
Note that Harold now gets this behavior repeatably whenever he edits a synonym or a definition. I (Nomi) was NOT getting this bad behavior until I put Harold's oboedit_config in place of my own; now I, too, get the misleading popups. I am trying to figure out why this is.
    • Update: it turned out that this was caused by Harold's (out-of-date?) perspectives.xml. When he replaced his oboedit_config/perspectives/perspectives.xml with mine, the "Uncommitted edits" problem went away.
  • The other reason it looked to Harold like his edits weren't getting saved is that in the past (e.g., in OE-2.000), after you added a new synonym and clicked Commit, the synonym editor (with a place to add a Name and Xrefs) changed back to the synonym display, showing the synonym name with the Scope under it and (if the synonym was in red) the little fixer tool icon. Now, in 2.1-b7, nothing visibly changes when you click commit--the synonym editor stays open rather than changing to the synonym display, so it looks like the edit hasn't "taken". This should be fixable--I will look into it.

Action Items

  • Nomi to work on fixing Text Editor behavior where clicking Commit doesn't visibly finish the edit (e.g., Synonym editor stays open)
  • Nomi to work with Becky on resolving her dictionary problems
  • Nomi will look at the high-priority search bugs:
  • Nomi will close out tracker items that have been fixed, and will reassess priorities (e.g., some of David O-S's high-priority bugs may no longer be so high-priority)

We discussed whether the current meeting schedule is good. Current attendees thought it was, but of course the people who couldn't attend weren't there to object.

There was also a bit of discussion on Webex & audio options; decided not to change for now. You can use Skype to call the toll-free conf line if you want to use a headset.
