07/16/2007 17:12:23 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: <phew> made it! 07/16/2007 17:13:17 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants: Yeah. Sorry about the late notice. I had a catastrophic diaper failure I was dealing with. 07/16/2007 17:13:25 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: ew. 07/16/2007 17:13:30 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants: The baby's diaper. My diaper is fine. 07/16/2007 17:13:34 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants: Anyway. 07/16/2007 17:13:35 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: Is anyone else coming? 07/16/2007 17:14:12 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants: I don't know. Am I right that: The plan was for people to test drive parts of OBO-Edit that they didn't understand, and ask questions? 07/16/2007 17:14:46 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: Maybe ... at any rate, I had essentially the same impression. 07/16/2007 17:15:07 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: I'm just sending the URL where I finally tracked down the participant entry for this meeting. 07/16/2007 17:15:22 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants: Didn't I forward an email to the group? 07/16/2007 17:16:25 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: er, yes, but it took me to a page that wanted a host username & password -- it looked like a reminder to the host (e.i. you) rather than the invite for everyone else. 07/16/2007 17:16:38 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: er, that should say 'i.e., you' ... 07/16/2007 17:16:51 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants: Opps. 07/16/2007 17:16:59 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants: er, that should say 'Oops' ... 07/16/2007 17:17:17 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: both doing real well here ... 07/16/2007 17:18:38 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants: Was there anything in particular you wanted to work with? 07/16/2007 17:18:44 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: Anyhoo, just frantically running the beta8 installer; just remembered that Webex can't share the platform-independent ver, at least from a mac. 07/16/2007 17:19:02 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: Then I'll see if I get the same blank-screen oddness that I saw at home the other day. 07/16/2007 17:20:10 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants: I've had that problem too, and it's very odd. 07/16/2007 17:20:34 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants: I think that it's coming out of an error in the docking framework that it's not reporting to the outside world. 07/16/2007 17:20:57 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: OK, installer has finished. One thing I've noticed already: no desktop icon, even tho I left it at the default "do create one" setting. Noticed this with beta8 and one other (7 probably) at home. 07/16/2007 17:21:06 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: Glad the blankness isn't just me. 07/16/2007 17:21:07 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants: This is Mac OS? 07/16/2007 17:21:18 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: yup, 10.4.10 07/16/2007 17:21:34 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants: When I've gotten the blank screen, I can fix it by restarting OBO-Edit, and then rebuilding my screen with the Show -> <whatever component> menus. 07/16/2007 17:22:02 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants: I'll make sure this is fixed before an official release. But since there's no feedback of any kind from the toolkit, it's going to take a while. 07/16/2007 17:22:13 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: I recall that not working for me; I had to throw away the .oboeditbeta contents :( 07/16/2007 17:22:29 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: Then it was OK without having to rebuild manually. 07/16/2007 17:23:05 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants: If that happens again, send me... 07/16/2007 17:23:31 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants: The contents of your .oboedit/perspectives directory. 07/16/2007 17:23:41 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: will do 07/16/2007 17:23:49 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants: It would be useful to get some broken files to work with. 07/16/2007 17:24:27 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: In other news, OBO-Edit has started up, and the config manager thinks it has 512M or memory. 07/16/2007 17:24:42 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants: Is that the setting you gave in the installer? 07/16/2007 17:25:01 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: This is odd because the installer guessed 1536M (of ~3G). 07/16/2007 17:25:07 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: so, no. 07/16/2007 17:25:34 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: I left the installer to use its 1536M guess. 07/16/2007 17:25:52 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants: Try resetting the value and restarting. I just realized that the technique I'm using for setting the memory from the installer may have a problem on Mac OS. 07/16/2007 17:26:40 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants: Mac OS (unlike every other platform) has a special way of sending memory settings to Java applications. I think that the memory settings are correct, but the file that tells OBO-Edit what to display may not be written correctly on Mac OS. 07/16/2007 17:26:42 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: Yes, it's remembered a change to 1024M. 07/16/2007 17:26:59 PM from John Day-Richter to All Participants: I think my theory is right then. <sigh> There's another bug to deal with. 07/16/2007 17:27:06 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: Now I shall stick my neck out and try to change the font! 07/16/2007 17:27:20 PM from Midori Harris to All Participants: Jen - want transcript-so-far? 07/16/2007 17:27:33 PM from Jennifer Deegan to All Participants: yes please
