3. Methods and strategies for annotation

a. Literature curation: We continue to focus our GO curation effort on annotation of gene products from the current literature as well as any older literature associated with genes targeted as part of the Reference Genomes project.

b. Computational annotation strategies: Each month we update our UniProt data. At that time, we also apply the current ec2go, interpro2go and ec2go translations to produce IEA annotations. These are dumped and reloaded from scratch at each new UniProt load into ZFIN.

c. Priorities for annotation:

(1) Current literature describing new genes or alleles

(2) All literature associated with genes targeted in the Ref. Genomes project
